Traffic police ‘thrashes’ Rawalpora boy after whisking him in jeep | KNO

Srinagar, April 25 (KNO) : A Rawalpora resident was on Thursday was allegedly thrashed by traffic police cops and his essentials thrown into Nallah in Gangbugh area of Srinagar. Momin Ali, a resident of Rawalpora, an electrician by profession alleged that after riding his bike from wrong side, he reached the Tengpora bypass. "I was asked to go back all the way I came and come from the genuine road. I asked them that since I am in hurry, and I accept my fault they have every right to seize my bike," Momin said. According to KNO correspondent, he said that after an altercation between the two, he gave them his bike and left the place. “After walking a bit distance a person asked my about what has happened. I told him that an altercation took place with traffic police and since I am in hurry, I left my bike with them and gave them its keys," Ali narrated. He claimed that the person told him that he will help in getting the bike back and asked him to meet the guy in the car on the other side. "As I sat in the white color Thar jeep, they straight away drove to Gangbugh area," Ali said. He said that first he was beaten inside the jeep later in the deserted area thrown out of the jeep and beaten to pulp again with sticks. The officer, he said was DySP rank and he threw his bag into nallah. "I am an electrician and all my equipment’s were in it," he said. Ali said that he felt that he will be killed as the traffic cops were carrying guns, he ran towards the highway. "I thought to run and save myself. As i reached highway and raised hue and cry, the policemen jumped into their vehicle and ran away," he said. Ali said that he was brutally thrashed and beaten all over his body including head and knees. He said that he confessed that he did ride the bike on the wrong side and altercation did happen but are traffic police men ready to kill people like this. “There should be an action against such police men,” he said.
